ABOUT

The K- 12 Outreach Program seeks to connect AIChE Student Chapters with each other and with K-12 students. Student Chapters are encouraged to share their experience in K-12 outreach through teaching modules that contain information about science demonstrations and experiments that they've found to be most successful.

In 2019, MIT-WPU took action to address and fill the gap of a talented and educated workforce with the establishment of the K-12 Outreach program. The vision of K-12 Outreach program is to bridge the gap by engaging students in hands-on and interactive engineering-related experiences; expose young people to the variety of potential opportunities and careers in engineering, and encourage young people to explore their personal interests in the engineering field. In addition, particular attention is to expose and encourage a diverse population of future engineers. We encourage diversification in gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic backgrounds, and urban/rural diversity.

OUR BIGGEST OUTREACH

Our recent K-12 outreach event at Shri Shivaji Vidyalaya, Alandi, was a resounding success, filled with boundless energy, curiosity, and creativity. Over 350 bright and eager students joined us for an unforgettable day of hands-on STEM activities designed to spark their imaginations and fuel their passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The event was a vibrant celebration of learning, as students explored innovative concepts through interactive experiments, engaging demonstrations, and collaborative problem-solving challenges. From building simple machines to exploring the wonders of coding, each activity was thoughtfully designed to make complex concepts fun and accessible for young learners.

What made the day truly special was the sheer enthusiasm of the students. Their inquisitive questions, creative ideas, and the joy of discovering new things reminded us of the immense potential that lies in every young mind. Our dedicated team of facilitators ensured that every child had the opportunity to participate, learn, and dream bigger.
